COVID-19 continues to surge across the United States, as the number of infections has hit a daily all-time high. Record new infections continue throughout all states, as the pandemic continues to rage. Hospital emergency rooms are nearing capacity and health resources are being stretched.
Experts blame the rise in infections to lax safeguards over the holidays (Christmas and New Years), Coronavirus safety fatigue and increased socialization. While vaccine distribution has begun, the overall spike in numbers is incredibly alarming. Medical experts fear that higher numbers of infections are expected. Some modeling shows incredibly concerning predicted levels of infections and deaths.
The spike in infections has led to various cities and states to enact new safety measures. Some examples are stay-at-home measures, curfews, mask mandates. These safety steps differ per location.
How can we prevent further infections? All Americans must take necessary steps to adhere to safety protocols. Masks usage and social distancing is essential. Be mindful of local safety ordinances. Stay home whenever possible. Remember to wash and sanitize your hands. If you are feeling unwell, get tested for COVID-19 and then isolate at home.
We all must work together to defeat COVID-19. Irresponsible behavior is unacceptable as it has consequences. It is up to all of us to do our part and act responsibly both at home and in public.
