A recent report states that over 19,000 Amazon employees have tested positive for COVID-19. This includes all front-line American Amazon and Whole Foods employees. This works out to 1.44% of their total American workforce.
The total is from March 1st to Sept 19th 2020.
Amazon has been undergoing consistent pressure from labor groups, governments and regulators to release their infection totals. After delaying providing numbers, Amazon succumbed to pressure and released their totals.
Amazon has provided various safeguards at most of their locations. For example, fulfillment centers have thermal imaging cameras, UV cleaning robots, numerous sanitation and other various COVID-19 safety measures in place.
The infection rate for Amazon is 42% lower than the general US infection rate.
It is important to continue to protect yourself and your staff against Coronavirus by taking the necessary precautions. A second wave of infections is afoot, so we all must continue to remain vigilant against COVID-19. Continue to social distance, wash your hands ongoing, do not touch your face and wear a mask whenever in public. Temperature screen employees and customers when they enter your facilities. If you are not feeling well, stay home and self isolate. These steps will help greatly reduce COVID-19 infections.
